Sundance Module System
High performance FPGA, DSP, A/D and D/A modules.
More than 60 different modules. With the biggest Xilinx FPGA's, the fastest TI DSP's and the highest performance ADC's and DAC's. This is the basis for the extremely flexible Sundance system success over the last more than 20 years.
The modules are based on the Texas Instruments Module format (TIM) and can be divided in the following main groups:
FPGA Modules
No matter what size or speed FPGA is required, there should be a Sundance module that fit's the bill within the selection of FPGA's available from Xilinx. This includes:
- Virtex 6 based modules
- Virtex 5 based modules
- Virtex 4 based modules
- Virtex II based modules
DSP Modules
One to four fast TI DSP's, a big FPGA and enough RAM and Flash is the recipe for the DSP modules. This includes more than 10 different base architectures.
- Select between floating point or fixed point DSP's in the popular TMS320 family ranging from 150MHz to 1GHz clock frequency (devices like TMS320C6711, TMS320C6416, TMS320C6216, TMS320C6713 and TMS320C6416T).
- The FPGA's used on the DSP modules ranges from a smaller Spartan 300E, over the Virtex-II series (XC2V1000E, XC2V2000E, XC2V6000 and XC2V8000) to the Virtex-II Pro series (XC2VP20, XC2VP30, XC2VP50, XC2VP70 and the massive XC2VP100)
- Memory is up to 320 MB DDR RAM, 16MB ZBTRAM and enough Flash to hold the code and configuration. Most modules ship with 8MB Flash on-board.
A/D and D/A Modules
More than 20 different base models of A-to-D converters, D-to-A converters and combined modules are available.
- Conversion rates up to 2GSa/s.
- Resolution up to 16 bit.
- Channels count up to 12 channels on a single module.
Most modules provide on-board programmable sampling clock generator, internal and external trigger circuits and local memory buffers. Direct access to the device analog input or output insures neglible degradation of the analog device performance.
Ethernet Modules
Full ethernet connectivity for stand-alone system can be implemented using one of the NetSilicon NET+50 based modules.
Serial-ATA (SATA) Modules
Massive data storage is easily achieved using a specialized SATA storage module. This drives one multiple SATA disks for larger data backup and storage solutions.
Video Modules
Video capture/generation and fast framegrabber systems can be implemented using one of several image modules with direct PAL/SECAM, Camera link, FireWire etc. interfaces.
Module Carriers
All of the above TIM format modules can be plugged directly into a custom board for high integration. Or use one of the many standard module carrier boards:
- PCI 32/33, PCI 64/66, PCI-X 64/100
- Compact-PCI (cPCI) and PXI, both 6U and 3U
- PCI-Express (PCIe) and Fiber Chanel
- VME and VME64
- PMC
- PC104
- Several stand-alone boxable carriers.
Standard module carrier boards hold from 1 module to 8 modules on a single carrier.
